Fever Pitch

A look at the latest album, Fever, by Welsh metal band Bullet For My Valentine.

Now right off the bat, I have to say that i am a fan of Bullet. I have their previous albums, I've seen them live and i intend to see them again. However the new album, Fever, is a bit of a letdown. Full of monotonous guitar riffs and a selection of songs that all seem very similar both in sound and theme. This is still a Bullet album and you'll recognise the familiar sound of the guitars and screams, But Fever doesn't really show us anything new. First singles from the album, Your Betrayal and The Last Fight are catchy in places and by no means bad but i can't help feel that after the massive success the band has seen from their last two albums, The majority of Fever should have been B-Sides at best. The only thing i'm wondering is if perhaps the problem here is the tuning/mastering brought on by a new producer, Or the choices of the band. Regardless, Fever would be an acceptable album if it wasn't coming from such a notable band. Consistently bland, Fever is certainly not the best outing from Bullet For My Valentine.
