As well as the Blur beta (read the post below this one) Multiplayer Design Leads of Halo: Reach (Chris Carney & Lars Bakken) have dropped a heap of info on the coming Reach beta during an interview with IGN (found
here). So in short, The beta will include 4 maps (Swordbase, Powerhouse, Overlook and Boneyard) each has been chosen to test a specific style of gameplay / team size. Also "many new weapons will be featured" and look for the return of fall damage (take THAT jetpack users).
